My mother was quite the handful yesterday. She’s bound and determined to become more mobile . I guess I can’t blame her but I feel the need to be on RED ALERT status.
Twice she tried to wheel herself in after smoking on the porch…ok no worries on that. She made it to the door at least. It’s the getting out of bed that continues to be the problem.
She had layed down for a couple of hours watching TV yesterday afternoon when I heard the dreaded THUMP. I went in her room and sure enough there she was on the floor by her chair. I asked her if she was hurt and she said no. After making sure she wasn’t bleeding I grabbed the camera…I know..I’m evil…. but she was laughing about it so I snapped away.
Notice that she managed to put her gloves on first.
When I asked her why she did it she replied…”The chair was so close it seemed like a shame not to try”
She’s going through another NO SLEEP phase. I hope it catches up with her soon.
I could use a break.

I’m sure this is very trying on you, but thank you for sharing this picture, I love it!! I’m so glad to see she wasn’t hurt and was a good sport about having her picture taken
I used to stay in the hospital with this elderly woman from the church I grew up in. She was a very sweet and special person to everyone in our community. She was 87 years old and had lived on her own for almost 20 years since her husband had passed. She even helped take care of her grandkids and great grandkids. So being in the hospital was very hard on her. I rarely slept while I was there with her through the week. One night I decided to sit in the chair beside her bed and prop my feet up near hers on her bed so I could feel if she moved. SOMEHOW… I have no idea how… but somehow… she got out of bed, removed her IV and cath (OUCH) and started walking for the door! One of the nurses caught her before she got far, but it made me feel SO BAD!!

Mary, you’re gonna give Becky a heart attack with you “bumps/thumps” in the day & nite! But, you do look cute sittin’ on the floor. And, Love that Sweat Shirt!!!

Becky, maybe you need to put a bell on her ankle so you can hear her when she tries to get out of bed. I can sympathize with you, my mother kept getting out of bed and she fell a couple of times and I got called to the ER, of course in the middle of the night, nothing serious but they had to call the ambulance and have her checked. Hang in there!!!! You’re doing a great job!!
